I am a resident counselor at one of the top pre-college enrichment summer programs in the world and I'm calling Los Angeles, California, my home for the next six weeks.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with these people over the past almost seven weeks. I’ve already said my goodbyes to some of them, and tears were shed. Three hours from now some of us will have one last breakfast together, and then it’s off to LAX and then South Carolina for me. I couldn’t have chosen a better way to spend my summer, and I’m forever grateful to everybody I’ve had the pleasure of working with for the wonderful memories I will cherish always. It’s amazing how people I’ve just met can feel so close.
P.S. Might I also add that it’s Harry Potter’s birthday? Yes, yes I may.

We went to Hollywood Improv on Melrose tonight. It was hilarious, it was fun, it was inappropriate. All the things that make a great night. =) Fortune Feimster, who is a frequent visitor to the panel on Chelsea Lately, and Stephen Kramer Glickman, an actor on the TV show Big Time Rush, were among the comedians who performed tonight.
I’ll post a photo of Cynthia and me with Glickman in a second, but for now, here’s one of Cynthia, Danny, and me!
“Hi Beverly!! this would be my first text and last text to you in the US…i would like to thank you for everything…thanks for all the advice that you always help me with =) i promise that i will never ever forget you no matter what…i don’t know how people think about you, but for me you are the best and most gorgeous rc i’ve ever had, it was really nice having you as my rc =D love you <3”
Things like this make the craziness of this summer worth it.
But not all of them.

This is especially relevant this weekend. We’re sad to see everyone go, but I hope we all learned a few things this summer.

I’m starting to get really sad. =( It’s almost time to say goodbye to the 150 students that we’ve been seeing every day for the past month and a half, and I’m especially sad to say goodbye to my girls.
On Wednesday night we went out with our RC groups for bonding time. My girls decided to go to Yamato for dinner, and then afterward I went to Diddy Riese with two of them. We (kind of) dressed up, took pictures, talked, I let them ask me questions about myself, etc. That’s me in the picture with two of my sweetest girls, Danae, from Greece, and Camila, from the Dominican Republic. Tomorrow we’re taking the kids to the airport in shifts and we stay with them until they make it through security. Not looking forward to it. =(
We watched an animal actors show at Universal Studios on Saturday, and the tricks the animals did were amazing! This little orangutan was a crowd-pleaser!

My roommate Amanda and I took two vans of kids to the Griffith Observatory last night. Traffic was horrible on Santa Monica Blvd. so we missed the sunset, but still the view of the city lights from the mountains was breathtaking. Aside from the awesome viewpoints, there were also lots of interesting and informative displays about space and our relationship with the universe. This is a picture of the model of our solar system. They still had Pluto up there, although you can’t see it.
I’ll post more pictures as the day goes by. I still have pictures of Hollywood!
